What's New

Here is the place to keep up with this website, but do check our Blog for news about the farm! AND IMPORTANTLY — Click your browser's Refresh button regularly to see the updates!

  • October 28, 2008: We have documented (with text and many pictures) our Certified Humane method for processing chickens. We've done this for two reasons: to show our customers who are interested just how we treat our chickens, and second to provide instructions for people who are interested in a humane method for processing their own chickens. The link takes you to an introduction page where you will be warned about the graphic nature of the first few pictures on the next page, and you can choose whether you wish to continue to the next page.

  • August 30, 2008: Finally updated the journals!! Please see our Journal Page 10.

  • July 20, 2007: Updated the Products and Orders page and our order forms as we are sold out of some of our products for 2007.

  • March 30, 2007: Posted a new Journal page - Page 9. Lots of pictures. But please do remember to visit our Blog as we have a lot of new stuff there almost daily.

  • March 22, 2007: Added the article "A Different Route to the Dinner Table" by Stephen Slosberg at The Day (with permission) and his audio recording.

  • January 22, 2007: Updated our Journal by adding Page 8. Of course, most the news is in our Blog (click the menu to the left), so don't forget to visit there regularly.

  • January 17, 2007: Updated the site by adding the audio to Faith Middleton's radio interview with Craig Floyd (have your volume on!).

  • January 11, 2007: Happy New Year! We've just updated our website with a wonderful video of the Fox 61 News special segment about Heritage Breeds and Footsteps Farm, which aired November 22, 2006.  We do hope you will take a few minutes to watch this great report from Fox Channel 61.

  • November 15, 2006:  You'll notice a new logo on the bottom of our Home page and also on most of our order forms.  This is because we have been given a "Certified Humane Raised and Handled" designation by Humane Farm Animal Care.   HFAC "is a non-profit organization whose mission is to improve the lives of farm animals."  You can read our Press Release on our blog here.

  • October 5, 2006:  After all the wonderful press and testimonials we've been getting, we decided to share it with you here:  What Do Other People Say About Footsteps Farm?  And, of course, to help you find what people are saying about us, Sarah the webmaster put a new button on our menu.

  • July 17, 2006:  Added a new page to our Journal (Page 7) to update you on the very busy spring activities (including the successful launch of the Denison Farmers Market).  Also, we lowered the prices on our pastured poultry (the Cornish Cross and Delaware Heritage Chickens).  You'll see this on our Products page and the order forms available there.

  • March 10, 2006: It's that we haven't had any news since December, just that we've been putting our news on our Blog. BUT, news definitely worth mentioning is that we have teamed up with the Denison Society to host a Farmers Market on the extensive grounds of the historic and beautiful Denison Homestead Museum (120 Pequotsepos Road, Mystic, CT).  We welcome local farmers and vendors to explore this opportunity; regulations and an application are available here.  We invite all our fans of farm-fresh food to come to the Denison Farmers Market on Sundays from 12-3 June through October; for information to contact and/or get to the Denison Homestead Museum, click here.  Many thanks to the members of the Denison Society for hosting the Denison Farmers Market!

  • December 16, 2005: Modifed the menus to add a link for the Blog, moving the animal links to a single page on Heritage Breeds.  Be sure to "Refresh" the pages when you visit this site so you get the new menus.

  • December 7, 2005: Rather than having one single order form, we have created separate order forms for each of our products.  They are all on our page of products and prices

Also, rather than trying to keep up with our journal, now that things are moving so fast, we started a BLOG. Yes, we are blogging. (What is a "blog"? It's a "web log"—a web diary or daily journal.) Click here to keep track of what we are doing (be sure to bookmark this page!) and you are invited to comment if you wish.

  • November 28, 2005:  We published another page of our Journal (pg. 6) , covering much of the summer and fall of 2005.

  • February 23, 2005: Added one more button, to bring our visitors directly to something we have come to care about: Pastured Poultry. Also, we combined the price list and delivery information with the order form and now have it all one one page for our Products and Orders.

  • February 19, 2005: Lots done-Added the "Beyond Organic" pages (more to come), updated the Journal (on now to page 4), changed the menu buttons so they fit better and added a direct link to our Order Form, added the Red Bourbon Turkeys, and removed the page on Dorsets (which are no longer high priority for us).
